New Semester
New Semester, New School Attitudes.
As I embarked on the journey of transitioning back to life in Guam, I was filled with a mix of emotions. The prospect of enrolling at the University of Guam stirred up a whirlwind of fear and disbelief within me. I vividly recall moments of tearful pleading, wishing for more time to prepare for this significant change. It wasn't until this year that I summoned the courage to embrace the prospect of returning to college. The uncertainty of what lay ahead loomed large, particularly my concerns about forging new friendships after being absent for almost two years. While I don't prioritize making friends, I have come to realize that forming connections throughout the semester significantly enhances the college experience. Building friendships has proven to be an essential aspect of a successful and fulfilling college journey. In the early semesters of my college experience, I grappled with intense mental challenges as I navigated the demands of online learning. The decision to relocate and immerse myself in a new environment was transformative, yet it stirred a longing for the familiar comforts of my previous life. The rapid pace of life in this new setting was undeniably thrilling, but it also provided a contrast that allowed me to recognize the value of a more tranquil and less anxiety-inducing approach to my studies. This realization has given me a clearer perspective on my aspirations. While my ultimate goal is to depart from Guam, for the present, it remains the place I call home. I’ve truly enjoyed my time studying at the University of Guam, and over the past two semesters, I’ve built strong friendships that have made my experience even more rewarding. Initially, I had planned to finish my studies elsewhere, but after spending time here, I’m certain that I want to complete my degree at this university. The supportive friends I’ve made here have been instrumental in making this journey feel less overwhelming, offering help and encouragement when I needed it most. Their presence has made a significant difference in both my academic success and my personal well-being, and I’m incredibly grateful for the positive impact they’ve had on my experience.
